Behind the scenes, dedicated workers meticulously sort, file and store all the records of the rich history of St Michael's.

The records date back to the beginnings of the church, then known as the Collins Street Independent Church. Founded in 1839, it is the oldest site of worship in Melbourne. From Congregationalism to Independent, the Church moved through several phases becoming part of the Uniting Church in 1977, finally adopting the name of St Michael's Uniting Church Collins Street Melbourne in 1990. The many details of the evolution of the Church identity are filed in our archives.
