Nordic Lights 2010 Series
CONCERT ONE
Theodore DUBOIS- (1837-1924) Piano Trio No.2 in E Major, Op.49
Dag WIREN (1905-1986) Piano Trio No.1, Op.6
Gabriel FAURE (1845-1924) Piano Trio in D Minor, Op.120
Astor PIAZZOLLA (1921-1991) Selection of Tangos
The first concert for 2010 follows on from Trio Anima Mundi's 2009 series "Prix de Rome", with each composer featured in this programme having a direct connection to France. Faure and Dubois (whose first piano trio was performed in Trio Anima Mundi's 2009 series) were both French nationals.
The Swedish composer Wiren wrote his piano trio whilst living in Paris and the Argentinean Piazzolla also spent time studying in Paris under Nadia Boulanger, whose influence proved a turning point in his compositional career.
