8:51amI was disappointed that Dr Macnab, in his recent sermon on "Every new crisis requires a new faith", did not refer to a definition of faith contained in the Bible. Here in Hebrews 11:1 faith is described as the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen.
While I agree that the five elements of the "new faith" referred to in the sermon (intelligence, responsiveness, strength of inner source, etc) are all important, there is one other important missing element. This is whether God exists, as Spirit (see Gen 1:2), and whether He is truly engaged in the midst of our everyday personal situations.
According to Dr Nacnab, God is created in our image. This I believe is utterly false! Rather, we are created in God's image and He is supreme over us and not the other way around. This does not mean that He will do exactly as we ask; however we can be assured that as we trust God while still taking some reasonably responsibility for our actions, He does intervene in ways that are for our and other’s overall (eternal) good, and ultimately, according to His sovereign purposes in the universe.
Perhaps Dr Macnab should replace those elegant public photos of himself with some other more appropriate symbolic reminder of God’s real presence, such as a picture of the Cross, the Bible or maybe a picture of a beautiful sunrise.

2:08pmIf God is love than I believe God is a woman and not a man as so many men believe God is. One does not make war in the name of love.....men create war because of power and not beause of love....Jesus was not for war either .... -

11:06amDr McNab obviously does not have a genuine relationship with God. He would realise there is only one commandment & that is...Love...love God, self & everone else....if we have love we won't have any desire to commit the offences of the 10 commandments....The article is old news now...& it doesn't seem to have born fruit...but the church would do well to bring some relationship teaching with the Holy Trinity...Father, Son & Holy Spirit....he would maybe have something worth spreading to the world & on the internet....LOVE...hope, faith & Love.....the greatest of these is LOVE.....as stated in 1 Corinthians.....try buidling up the word of God & His kingdom instead of tearing it down on a whim...Dr. McNab should have been silenced & re-educated by his church....I certainly would not like him to be representing anything I stand for...especially something that influences masses! What a crack pot...But God loves him anyway.....such is the heart of God....I pray for great revelation of the heart & love of God for Dr. McNab.

2:27pmAs we move closer to Christmas I am thinking about how important it is to Jesus' message that he was born of a virgin mother and that he is the son of God?
I do not think it is important. I think that Jesus' message is a good creed to live by regardless of who Jesus was or whether in fact it was Jesus who said it -

Having moved to Perth, and having been a member of St.Micheal's for some years prior, I am happy to learn of Dr. Macnab's unending quest for authenticity in faith practise... (And relieved to know that far from fading into age ...he is exampling his own creed of the 'next 30 Vital Years).
Yeeeaaahh! At a time of global need for leadership in the face of 21st Century challenges ... this has to be a triumph over convention... towards a greater Truth.
Dr. Macnab your audacity, courage and validity are inspirational.

11:57pmI visited your church recently. All traces of Jesus seem to be removed. No crosses? Over the crucifixion I take it?
But what I saw was Jesus replaced with Mr Macnab. A huge painting of him in the entry. The red velvet cloak that draws the eyes to the wearer. The centrality of the man. Not off to the side of God.. In front of God, before God. The orb - a doctors serpentine staff with a knob representing, well what?
Symbolism is important. This symbolism is raising alarm bells. Narcissism comes to mind.
The self before God. -

12:37pmThank you for your interest in my post Jonathon.
I'm sorry to read that you dont seem to understand that feelings and logic can coexist.
I have found that they have been most complimentary in my life as an educator of young people. In tandem, they can facilitate wonderful open mindedness.
I suppose I ought to be a little concerned about my ride to this hell you speak of but I'm relieved to hear that my journey will be a comfortable one...
...which I'm sure YOU would know.
Your negative tone indicates that you are currently living your life there!

1:49pmI congratulate Dr. Macnab on his courage and wish him further success. I think he should form a new denomination with branches in the suburbs accessable to those who cannot get to St. Michaels.
The greatest challenge facing the human race is to raise moral standards; nothing could be more obvious. But who can we rely on to provide moral leadership? Not politicians - they are among the worst offenders. Not our educational system - though it should be. Traditionally it has been the Church, but so many followers have been repelled by it's ridiculous obsession with superstition, archaic scriptures and it's head in the sand attitude on so many social issues. It needs to make itself more socially relevant and bring itself into line with 21st Century educational standards. - Showing comments 1-10 of 19
