New Faith throws out the Ten Commandments

    2 Peter 2:1-3
"But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the soverign Lord who bought them, bringing swift destruction on themselves. (v2) Many will follow their shameful ways and will bring the way of Truth into disrepute. (v3) In their greed, these teachers will exploit you with stories they have made up. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them and their destruction has not been sleeping.

As it says in the Bible - black and white - in The God of all gods TRUE book - There are flase teahers among us, ones who will even deny the soverign Lord. How dare he (Dr Mcnab) claim to be a "Christian" when he does not only NOT have any fundamental Christian beliefs, but is denouncing Christ, and giving true Christians a bad and false reputation. I will continue to pray for this man, and all who decide to follow him, that God will have mercy on them. They'll need it.

Oh My God!, Finally someone with enough intelligence to see past the crap that goes with religion. I truely believe that Dr McNab is onto something that may finally start to unite this world we live in.

Your $120,000 advertising campaign did attract my attention... and I clicked onto this site. But seriously, why do you call yourselves a church? McNabb, you are abusing your position of Reverend to spout utter lies that are totally contradictory to the theology your church is built upon. You're suppressing the truth mate, and you need to repent.

My friends, the world is stuffed up. You are stuffed up. Jesus is the answer. Don't let McNabb distort the truth, he is a wolf in sheep's clothing. If you go to St Michael's and you've thought leaving... stop thinking, and get out.

Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. John 14:6.

This here is what Christianity is about:

Dr. Macnab continues to inspire me. His ideas from his most recent sermons and his many books have shown him to be one of few amongst the multitudes who can PONDER, THINK, REFLECT AND QUESTION for the betterment of society; for love, tolerance and respect for all.

With a German-Jewish mother and an Italian-Catholic father and raised in NYC with a myriad of intelligent (and not so intelligent or open minded) friends of all races and creeds, and respectful of athiests, I have absolutely no problems with his statements and applaud his Ten New Commandments.

The world would be a better place if we could all have the opportunity for him to be our mentor.

Jesus of Nazareth condensed the 10 Commandments to only 2 :-
"Love Jehovah your God with all your Heart and mind. And love your neighbour as yourself." I'm not an intellectual, but I do know that NO ONE has improved on this. Maybe you can, good luck - you'll need it!

Congratulations to Dr. McNab for bypassing the alter of political correctness and having the courage to attenuate what is axiomatic for mainstream Christianity's credibility. That being the relevance - or not - of that faith to modern society.

Today our world, our universe and our place in it is an absolute refutation to the doctrinal teachings of traditional scripture. Whether one is prone to think or to believe, it seems that to hold faith today requires skilled introspection, serious intellectualisation or - the word to have engendered debate of late - simple delusion.

Surely to embellish this argument, bring it into the 21st century and give Christianity meaning above the demonstrably fraudulent claims of so many rising 'supernatural' new age biblical spin-offs, it is the first two points that demand elucidation. Criticism of belief systems comes not so much from what is believed, but from arguments used to justify ones beliefs. As does support for those beliefs. It would seem Dr. McNab has a working answer for the critics and an option for support.

I think the final term has enough internet space devoted to it. As does its unfortunate binary; that unbelievers are by default immoral beings ready to spring from the blocks into a life of unspeakable deeds. No hope, no salvation. Horrible people with a hideous fate. This demonstrably false threat which insults so much of humanity is what Christianity says of millions of [most?] Aussies.

No revelations are needed to ascertain why generation Y dismiss traditional Christianity in droves. Yet, we're hearing concerns about Dr. McNabs message primarily because it places such ambitious claims into public discourse. I fail to see how suppressing knowledge or censoring stimulating ideas promotes anything but more ignorance.

    More so, the intellectual paucity of arguments advanced to defend literal relevance, is offensive to any critical thinking person and frankly embarrassing for "the flock", upon whom such arguments reflect. It is perhaps predictable irony that the official 'ten commandments statement' from St. Michael's includes;

"It would be like having a car park without any white lines, or junctions without any traffic lights!

Close your eyes and picture the chaos: a world where children are taught to disrespect their parents, where you could not trust human relationship because commitments were taken lightly and lies were commonplace, where life was viewed as frivolous and expendable and your property could be taken from you on the whim of a neighbour with impunity. Sadly, that’s exactly the world that we are increasingly creating...".

As a non Christian, I find such clearly concocted childish ramblings quite ridiculous. As I do not demote this one true life to 'test-run' status, and have no "forgiveness" regime, thankfully I have no idea what sheer horror it must be to need "instruction" on how to simply be a moral being. We're hard wired for reciprocal altruism and overlaying any natural phenomena with concoctions is predictably tenuous. Little wonder it so often fails, and how valuable an honest and open discourse such as Dr. McNabs would be.

It's as logical to threaten doom should some children grow up to not respect the vital need of ancient dances in keeping evil spirits from the door. Is there one deed - just one - of a noble or good kind done in the name of religion, that cannot be done for its own sake? No. Thus we speak of indoctrination, not intervention.

Imagine the wonder of a world in which thought conformity was not a prerequisite for being a human being or for realising your full potential. It strikes me that Dr. McNab has some very clear ideas on just that.

The disconcerting aspect here is not what Dr. McNab may say, or how his views might influence thinking. It is the presence of a non evidence based assumption that he must not say something, that someone else finds uncomfortable. Haven't we been on that train before?

Though this may be called the 'new faith', it is simply old error in new clothes. As a Christian, I desire the faith as contained in the Scriptures. Here is an article concerning this issue from a Biblical point of view:

Having long been an avid listener to Dr Bob Price 'The Bible Geek' this new faith comes as no surprise.
It is long overdue that modern theology be reflected in contemporary churches rather than the conflicting aberration of belief of the moment, that currently exists.

Congratulations on taking that vital first step, and good luck.
