Our Environment - what of the future?

    There are many definitions, mine would be someting like:

    Energy obtained from sustainable (not depleting or greenhouse gas producing) sources.

    Examples are:
    Solar heating and power
    Tidal and wind power

    Probably the least sustainable source of power is burning of brown coal as practiced today, because it produces the greatest amount of green house gas per unit of electricity generated.

    I am very interested in this concept of \"sustainable energy\". Can someone please explain this to me as I am afraid I don\'t understand what it means.

    I think some study needs to be initiated into the paradox of new sustainable industries being effectively ignored in real financial terms while established industries such as coal and electricity generation receive far greater government financial support and investment. Is there no alternative to this?
