Cairnmillar began in 1961, 50 years ago.

CAIRNMILLAR is an institute of Psychology, located in Camberwell which places specialist emphasis on three vital concerns:

Treatment Bringing the best resources of psychotherapy, psychoanalysis and psychology to the needs of the people, individuals and families, adults and children. Training Psychologists qualifying for registration, people from the helping professions generally. Training in counselling and psychotherapy. (A Masters Degree program is available). Teaching For the general community. This teaching embraces Stress Management, Anger management, the Mood Clinic and several areas of community education.

In our clinical work we are involved every day in helping people who have run into problems that affect them seriously, or who have emotional and psychological trauma. We are also involved with people who experience everyday problems. Treatment is not only about changing circumstance; it is about strengthening the strengths, bringing out the best, encouraging an optimism and hope for the future.

St Michael's entered into a relationship with Cairnmillar in 1971. For 40 years it has committed itself to be a sponsor and supporter of many of Cairnmillar's outreach programs and clinical psychological services. This support has flowed through in generous funding of many projects. The support has also been shown in the enthusiastic, positive people response
