Childhood trauma can have long-terms effects on mental well-being throughout life.  Left untreated the effects of trauma become compounded.  We know that Seventy-five percent of adult disorders develop in childhood. When an adult has difficulties with emotions and intimacy in life we must consider what events they experienced as children.  Children grappling with the effects of trauma can experience social isolation, emotional turmoil, low self esteem and confidence. The Cairnmillar Child Trauma Program seeks to redress these effects by providing treatment in the early stages of life.

Each year, St Michael’s Uniting Church presents two individuals with ‘The St Michael’s Medallions’ in recognition of their outstanding contribution to the community.

The award is designed to recognize individuals whose work assists in the prevention of violence, trauma and destructiveness or alternatively, promotes growth, health and well-being.

The Medallions are designed to be an encouraging voice in the community, affirming individuals whose outstanding work might remain unrecognized.

Join us for the week filled with events celebrating these high achievements and elevating our spirits.
