POINT COOK HOMESTEAD
An historic homestead est. 1857
Step back in time and visit this historic homestead and stables. The homestead was established in 1857 by Thomas Churnside, where he resided for many years with his family, breeding and racing horses, many of which were Melbourne and Caulfield cup winners.
The property was sold in 1920 and eventually became derelict. In 1987 Norm Hawler bought the property and lovingly restored it. It has now been heritage listed and is managed by Parks Victoria.
There is a great amount of history on display in the homestead. We will have a guided tour of his historic homestead followed by a light luncheon and the opportunity to walk and enjoy history and nature on this 25 acre beach front property.
There will be a bus leaving St Michael’s at 9.30am, so book early to avoid disappointment. There will be a small fee of $5.00 to cover the cost of petrol.
Date: Friday 16 January
Time: 9.30am St Michael’s Walk in front of the Church.
Venue: Point Cook Homestead
Cost: $35.00 for adults and $30.00 for pensioners.
