WOMENSPACE 2009
SPECIAL GUEST SPEAKER:
Joyce Sadia
SAIL Sudanese Advocate & Foundation House Counsellor
TOPIC: A Refugee Family Experience: Our Journey from Sudan to Australian Citizenship
Joyce and her family fled Sudan and arrived in Australia as refugees. The family has now settled into Melbourne life as Australian citizens. Joyce will share with us her family's journey, the challenges they faced in Sudan, and their experiences adjusting to life in the Australian community.
Joyce is an advocate for the SAIL program (Sudanese Australian Integrated Learning) and now works as a social worker providing counselling to newly arrived families at Foundation House (VFST - Victorian Foundation for the Survivors of Torture).
This promises to be a very lively interactive discussion - Joyce has a wealth of experience and is very keen to respond to all of our questions!
