Hiroshima Sunday - Noriko Tadano (Syamisen)
Noriko began playing Tsugaru Syamisen (Japanese Banjo) and singing Minyo (Traditional folk songs) when she was 8 years old. Since moving to Melbourne in 2004, she has performed and taught Japanese music at schools and events all over Australia. Noriko often performs with an amazing mix of talented musicians. From traditional Taiko (Japanese Drums) musicians through to renowned Jazz and Blues performers Noriko is constantly exploring the musical possibilities through her Shamisen. Recent performances include Brisbane Multicultural Arts Centre Zipangu Night, Pearl Festival in Broome WA, Mackay Arts Festival, Chookas Festival (Victoria Arts Centre) and Womens International Jazz Festival.
