Fred Williams: Infinite Horizons
One of Australia’s greatest artists.
Fred Williams pioneered a new version of Australian landscape and became one of the most important Australian artists of the twentieth century.
This exhibition highlights William’s strength as a painter. He sought inspiration from the unique landscapes of places such as Upwey in Victoria, Tasmania’s Bass Strait and the Pilbara region in Western Australia, drawing on the abstract potential of the vast country.
Also of great interest are the portraits of family and friends that William’s produced throughout his career. He was an artist engaged with his subject and intrigued by a sense of his sitters individuality.
An introductory talk will commence at 10.30am sharp. Afterwards we will have morning tea in the upstairs tea room, before viewing the exhibition.
Time: 10.15am in the foyer for a talk at 10.30am.
Venue: Ian Potter Centre NGV.
Cost: $38.00 for adults and $35.00 for pensioners. which includes a substantial morning tea
